The Boat in the Dream

This monoprint references the text based work of the neo-conceptual artist Jenny Holzer: "In a dream you saw a way to survive and you were full of joy".

While Jenny Holzer's text works employ language in a metaphorical way , I use boats as a metaphor to generate layers of meaning. In this instance, the suggested boat-like shape in the image could imply a vehicle for survival, yet its fragility denies this hope.
